We use a service called Yodlee (http://www.yodlee.com/products/apis/aggregation-api/), an American software now traded as a public company on NASDAQ (recently acquired by Envestnet). Yodlee provides account aggregation that allows users (in our case families) their bank, investment, credit card, and other information if users authorize each account. Yodlee has millions of users and its technology powers many financial institutions use Yodlee to power their online portals, including 5 of the top 10 U.S. banks). Like Amazon's (AWS) cloud computing platform, Yodlee is a paid service, which is why Stretch asks for a subscription fee each month for premium users. Yodlee handles all the security and authentication with your financial institutions.
